I’m not pulling this out of my a**. Recently Sundar Pichai said that 25% of all code at Google is AI generated and a month before GOOGLE laid off its entire Python team. So it’s coming.

Computers ain’t going away, but they’re becoming intelligent assistants rather than single-state automatons. Put your assistant to work on the mundane and grunt work while you design and build bigger things.

For a teenager today, I’d suggest learning HOW to BUILD things. Learn to build things quickly with the tools already present. Learn basics of Physics, Chemistry and Biology, ALONG WITH simulating the concepts in computer software so that you can quickly build a house or an engine or a reactor. Be curious. Ask endlessly “WHY” until you’re satisfied. People are always going to need to live in houses, people are going to need cars and buses, people are going to need planes. So learn more of Physics and Mechanical engineering. Electrical engineering and Circuits are also something you can learn. Computer hardware is always in demand.

What are some good inspirational movies?

The jobs for Indians (or even Americans) in the IT sector are going to go down drastically anyway. Why?

Because Claude or ChatGPT can write algorithms at ONE-THOUSANDTH of the price of a software engineer. IF these companies can get one subscription and replace 10 engineers with 1 who can generate the correct response using prompts, what’s the use of recruiting engineers to write code? I predict 2025/2026 to be some of the last years for IT recruitment.
